Services
Private Training:
1-2-1 sessions with the client and their dog, lasting approximately 75-90 minutes. Sessions will take place at a location agreed upon prior to booking confirmation.
Walk and Train:
Individualized training with your dog, without the client present. Sessions are 2 or 3 hours, with pick-up and drop-off at an agreed location (default is the client’s home address).
Phone Consultation:
Advisory sessions conducted over the phone to address specific concerns or training goals.
Payment Terms
Rates (for clients before 12th December 2024):
First private training session: £45 (£25 part-payment required upon booking).
Follow-up sessions: £35, payable on the day.
Walk and Train: Rates discussed and agreed upon individually.
Rates (for clients from 12th December 2024 onwards):
First private training session: £45, payable in full prior to the session.
Follow-up sessions: £35, payable on the day.
Walk and Train: Rates discussed and agreed upon individually.
Payments can be made via cash or bank transfer. Bank transfer details will be provided upon booking.
Cancellations
Less than 24 hours' notice: Forfeiture of the session fee.
24 hours or more notice: Clients may choose to reschedule or request a refund if already paid.
Insurance and Liability
BirchBark Dog Training is fully insured through Petplan Sanctuary (underwritten by Brooks Braithwaite). Coverage includes:
Public Liability: £5,000,000
Professional Indemnity: £100,000
Loss/Theft of Keys: £10,000
Care, Custody, and Control of Animals: £1,250 per animal
Custodial Responsibility: £10,000
XL Bully Type Dogs: Coverage includes specific terms under Section 8 of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991:
A Certificate of Exemption must be obtained as required by law.
Dogs must be muzzled and restrained on a lead at all times in public places by a person aged 16 or older.
Dogs must be muzzled and restrained in private spaces when around individuals other than the insured, employees of the insured, or household members.
Clients are liable for any harm caused by their dog. While BirchBark Dog Training carries public liability insurance, clients are advised to also have third-party liability insurance.
BirchBark Dog Training does not accept liability for injury to the dog owner or damage to the owner’s property caused by their own animal.
Behavior & Safety
Clients are responsible for providing accurate information about their dog’s health and behavior, including any incidents involving aggression or anxiety. Failure to disclose this information may result in the termination of services.
BirchBark Dog Training reserves the right to report any dog that is believed to pose a threat to others.
Photos & Videos
Photos or videos may be taken during training or walking sessions for social media, advertising, or instructional purposes. Group workshops may include a group photo. If you do not wish for you or your dog to appear, please inform us at the beginning of any session.
Legal Jurisdiction
Any disputes arising from BirchBark Dog Training’s services are governed by Scots law and must be filed in Scottish courts.
Additional Terms
Training outcomes may vary based on the dog’s temperament, consistency of training, and owner’s involvement.
BirchBark Dog Training reserves the right to refuse service if the trainer deems it unsafe or unsuitable.
By making a booking and providing the required payment, clients agree to these terms and conditions.
